FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE FAQ · AFTERCARE
Aftercare is usually simple: protect the treated tissues, observe how you respond and avoid adding unnecessary irritation. The following guidance is general; instructions from your own practitioner take priority.
The first few hours
Hydrate normally, eat if you arrived on an empty stomach, and allow light-headedness or deep relaxation to settle before driving. Avoid rubbing or repeatedly checking the insertion points.
Cleansing, skincare and makeup
Gentle cleansing and your usual non-irritating skincare are generally reasonable once the skin is calm. If points remain red or tender, keep products simple and delay makeup over those areas. Avoid strong acids, retinoids or aggressive facial tools that day.
Exercise, heat and alcohol
Strenuous exercise, sauna, very hot baths and alcohol can increase flushing and circulation. When you bruise easily or had a more stimulating session, keeping the remainder of the day moderate is sensible.
If a small bruise appears
A facial bruise often fades within about three to five days, though individual timing varies. Use a wrapped cool compress briefly during the early stage; after the initial period, gentle warmth may support comfort. Do not massage a fresh bruise forcefully.
Normal short-lived reactions
Pinpoint redness, mild tenderness, temporary heaviness, sleepiness or awareness of a treated muscle can occur. Note how long the response lasts so the next session can be adjusted intelligently.
When to contact the clinic
Report pain, swelling or redness that is worsening rather than settling. Seek urgent care for breathing difficulty, rapidly progressive swelling, neurological symptoms, fever or signs of serious infection.
Other aesthetic treatments
Do not layer lasers, injections, vigorous facials or unfamiliar home devices simply because the skin looks calm. Follow the timing agreed with each treating clinician and tell them what was done.
Prepare for the next visit
Record bruising, tenderness, changes in tension or puffiness, and how long any benefit lasted. Consistent photographs and honest symptom notes are more useful than judging the face from one mirror check.
