Cosmetic Acupuncture · The Dingyan Method
At Dingyan Taipei, facial acupuncture begins with anatomy,
muscle and fascia,
integrating lymphatic flow and the holistic perspective of
Chinese medicine
to support natural expression and individualized facial balance.
DINGYAN BEAUTY ACUPUNCTURE
Beginning with the balance of the facial muscles, fascia and meridian tension,
we help signs of sagging, fatigue and asymmetry return to a more natural and stable state.
A gentle and refined approach to beauty, rooted in the body’s natural structure and balance.
Dingyan offers more than facial acupuncture. We observe the face through the lens of muscle tension, fascial support, meridian circulation, and aesthetic proportion, helping each face maintain a natural, stable, and refined state through different ages, lifestyles, and expression patterns.
As of 2026, Dingyan has accumulated over 120,000 facial acupuncture-related treatments, allowing us to observe facial changes across different face shapes, ages, tension patterns, and signs of laxity.
Dr. Mandy Lin, Director of Dingyan and author of The Beauty Bible, developed an aesthetic observation system based on muscle, fascia, bone structure, and energy, focusing on natural facial rejuvenation and lifting.
Dingyan has long accompanied women and public figures who value a natural appearance, building a stable, refined, and non-excessive rhythm of facial care.
Changes in facial contour rarely come from the skin alone. Overactive muscles, fascial pulling, head and neck tension, circulation, metabolism, and daily expression habits may all influence facial lines, complexion, and overall expression.
We assess the masseter, expression muscles, and deeper facial tension to understand why facial lines may feel pulled, stiff, or lowered.
We consider the glide, pull, and support lines of the facial and head-neck fascia to understand contour stability and facial laxity.
Based on traditional Chinese medicine, we observe the relationship between qi-blood circulation, fatigue, dullness, puffiness, and metabolic state.
We value facial balance, jawline definition, apple cheek position, eye expression, and the preservation of natural facial identity.
From the treatment space and individually prepared amenities to pre- and post-treatment care, Dingyan values the integrity of every visit. Private treatment rooms, individually prepared treatment gowns and fresh linens provide comfort, privacy and professional care throughout the experience.
A calm and private environment allows both the face and body to slow down and settle.
Each guest receives a freshly prepared treatment gown and linens, meeting the standards of a premium medical clinic.
From preparation before treatment to recovery and skincare guidance afterward, every stage is thoughtfully connected.
Experience changes in facial relaxation, contour and complexion.
Follow the treatment interval recommended by the physician so facial tension can gradually become more stable.
Regular care supports facial contours, fatigue recovery and circulation together.
FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE
The appearance of the face is shaped by more than the skin alone. The muscles, fascia, neck, shoulders and scalp tension surrounding the face all influence facial contours and definition. Through the regulation of muscles, fascia, acupuncture points and meridian energy, facial acupuncture helps reduce downward tension, improve structural support and encourage a more natural, firm and softened appearance.
Facial asymmetry, a wide or square facial appearance, double chin, jowls, blurred jawline, facial puffiness and loss of contour definition.
Prominent-looking cheekbones, hollowing beneath the cheekbones, temporal hollowing, forehead lines, glabellar lines and frown lines.
Uneven eye appearance, crow’s feet, dark circles, under-eye bags, tear troughs, dullness, puffiness, tightness and fatigue around the eyes.
Descending cheek volume, malar lines, perioral expression lines, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and downturned mouth corners.
Dullness, a fatigued appearance, poor circulation, enlarged pores, lack of radiance and unstable skin condition.
Neck lines, a heavy-looking neck, neck and shoulder tension, downward pull on the jawline and heaviness through the upper body.
Facial acupuncture may also be assessed alongside eye dryness or strain, orbital pressure, nasal allergies, nasal congestion, ear fullness, tinnitus, headaches, head pressure, disrupted sleep and fatigue. By supporting meridian function and the circulation of qi and blood, the treatment aims to bring both facial appearance and overall physical condition toward a more stable balance.
Results vary according to individual constitution, facial tension, lifestyle and treatment frequency. A personalised treatment plan should be developed following evaluation by a physician.
COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE · THE DINGYAN METHOD
Cosmetic acupuncture is also commonly described as facial acupuncture or facial rejuvenation acupuncture. These terms overlap, but the quality of care depends on far more than the name: practitioner training, anatomical knowledge, clinical assessment, needle technique and the treatment plan all matter.
At Dingyan, cosmetic acupuncture in Taipei is physician-led. Assessment considers facial anatomy, muscle tension, fascial support, lymphatic flow and the relationship between the jaw, neck and scalp. The holistic perspective of Chinese medicine is also used to understand constitution, sleep, stress, circulation and other factors that may influence facial appearance.
This approach does not add volume like dermal filler and does not intentionally block muscle contraction like botulinum toxin. Instead, the Dingyan Method combines acupuncture with facial and head-neck care to support a more relaxed expression, balanced contour and natural facial identity. Individual response varies, so treatment suitability and frequency are determined after assessment rather than by a single standard protocol.
The terms are often used interchangeably. “Cosmetic acupuncture” emphasizes aesthetic goals, while “facial acupuncture” may also include facial tension and related functional concerns. At Dingyan, both terms describe physician-led care based on facial structure and whole-body assessment.
Following individual assessment, care may focus on facial tension, puffiness, asymmetry, contour definition and a tired-looking expression. See the full guide to what facial and cosmetic acupuncture may address, including realistic limits.
Some people first notice relaxation or temporary fluid changes, while structural and tension-related patterns generally require progressive care. The recommended interval depends on facial tension, constitution, lifestyle and response to treatment.
When performed by a qualified practitioner after appropriate assessment, it is generally well tolerated. Temporary tenderness, pinpoint bleeding or bruising may occur. People with medical conditions, pregnancy or medications that affect bleeding should disclose them before treatment and review the safety and side-effects guide.
